The Housing Information and Referral Services HELP-Line provided by Colorado Affordable Legal Services offers free tenant rights information to Denver City & County residents to assist in the resolution of their tenant issues. There is no charge for this service for Denver City & County Residents only.
The Tenant/Landlord Rights and Related Housing Information and Referral Services program’s goal is to provide the following tenant information services:
- Information on landlord/tenant rights and responsibilities.
- Provide tenant referral and resource information to tenants in an effort to assist with their housing issues;
- Identification of emergency housing resources for the elderly, single parents, disabled and indigent, and landlord/tenant concerns, where applicable;
- Printed materials concerning landlord/tenant rights, fair housing, and subsidized family housing;
- Provides community outreach that provide periodic landlord/tenant presentations related to landlord/tenant issues;
- Maintains and utilizes a database of housing listings to assist individuals and families an appropriate housing situation;
- Work towards homeless prevention by providing information and brief intervention that can give tenants the tools to deal with issues that could cause them to become homeless;
Denver Eviction Legal Defense Services

Colorado Affordable Legal Services (CALS) counsels and advises tenants, provides pleadings assistance and limited-scope or full representation to tenants in their eviction case filed in Denver County Court only. In addition to other requirements, residential tenants must be income-qualified and reside in Denver County in order to be eligible for free legal services in their possession hearing case.
If the tenant receives legal services from CALS for his/her eviction case, the assistance may be provided on a limited-scope or full representation basis, which will be determined by CALS's attorney. If limited-scope, the tenant may receive document review, case analysis, pleadings assistance, legal advise and more. Full representation encompasses the same as limited-scope services but also includes legal representation to negotiate with opposing counsel and/or appear at the tenant’s trial date in his/her possession action. CALS free legal services do not include representation at any other proceeding beyond the possession hearing. Legal services are neither guaranteed nor mandated under Colorado law.. There is no charge for this service for Denver City & County Residents only.
