" We Care, We Listen, We Respond "

The Tenant/Landlord Rights and Related Housing Information and Referral Services program provided by Colorado Affordable Legal Services offers aid to Colorado regional residents in resolving their housing problems.  There is no charge for this service for Denver & Jefferson County Residents.  The program offers dispute resolution information, referrals for legal assistance, and access to alternative housing.

The Tenant/Landlord Rights and Related Housing Information and Referral Services program provides the following counseling services:

  • Information on landlord/tenant rights and responsibilities.  
  • Referral and information to low income persons facing, building sale, increased rents, utility shut off and increases, eviction procedures, security deposit refunds, and the fair housing laws.

  • Identification of emergency housing resources for the elderly, single parents, disabled and indigent, and landlord/tenant concerns.

  • Extensive printed materials concerning landlord/tenant rights, fair housing, and subsidized family housing will available or mailed upon request.

  • Provides community outreach that provides periodic landlord/tenant presentations to young adults, elderly groups, single parents, the homeless or near homeless, and groups serving the disabled population.

  • Provides the distribution of fair housing brochures to landlords, tenants, realtors, and target populations such as the disabled and single parents.

  • Maintains and utilizes a database of housing listings to assist individuals and families an appropriate housing situation.

  • Work towards homeless prevention by providing information and brief intervention that can give people the tools to deal with issues that could cause them to become homeless (major issues of homelessness are: eviction, harassment, domestic violence, and financial issues in renting).

  • Utilize innovative methods of helping people to find housing such as: provide information that provides sample letters that tenants can use, provide information on being effective renters, and coordinating with many community agencies to provide thorough resource information for clients.
